Job Description

A privately held consumer financing company with offices in St. Cloud, Minnesota and Las Vegas, Nevada is seeking a Credit Risk Strategy Manager who has experience in consumer lending, preferrably in unsecured lending, BNPL, or fintech environments. This is a newly created leadership role offering high visibility and impact across the organization and will lead strategic credit initiatives and optimize underwriting policies.


Position Overview

The Credit Risk Strategy Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing credit risk strategies that support business growth while maintaining regulatory compliance and portfolio health. This role will collaborate cross-functionally with underwriting, compliance, analytics, and finance teams to drive data-informed decisions and improve credit performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain credit risk and underwriting policies aligned with business goals and regulatory frameworks.
  • Lead credit risk monitoring efforts, including forecasting portfolio exposure and analyzing approval and default trends.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for complex or exception-based credit applications.
  • Oversee the creation of SOPs and training materials for underwriting operations.
  • Present performance reports and KPI dashboards to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to enhance end-to-end credit risk management processes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in consumer credit, preferably in unsecured lending, BNPL, or fintech environments. 10 - 15 years of experience would be ideal
  • Strong understanding of credit reporting systems and financial qualification metrics.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, manage complex tasks, and make informed decisions.
  • Preferred experience with automated credit decisioning, fraud prevention, KYC/AML, or identity verification tools.
  • Strong leadership skills; this person will have 1 direct report to start

Work Environment & Compensation

  • Hybrid flexibility: Working onsite 1-2 days per week is ideal, but more remote flexibility is available for the right candidate. Onsite meetings will be scheduled as needed.
  • Office locations: St. Cloud, MN or Las Vegas, NV
  • Base salary up to $175,500, plus annual discretionary bonus.
